We recently adopted a dwarf (robo) hamster and set him up in a large no-lid 55 gallon tub, which was great because it gave him a lot of space to burrow around, but it made it almost impossible to find a water bottle that wasn’t designed to hang from the roof or side wall of a typical metal or plastic mesh cage. Jury-rigging a regular water bottle to hang over the side of the tub worked for a while, but it dripped a lot of water and the hamster really had to stretch to reach it, since his breed was so small. This water bottle holder is everything I wanted and more. The spout is at the perfect angle that it doesn’t drip at all (I just had to shake it a little to loosen the metal ball inside), and it’s the perfect height for our little guy. Also, the info doesn’t mention it, but the base of the holder is actually ceramic (not plastic, like I assumed), so it seems really sturdy and well-made. The little hiding area inside it is a nice bonus, but it’s so small that it only just holds our robo hamster and a ‘regular’ sized hamster would probably not be able to fit (or worse – get stuck). There’s also a small plastic hook on the top of the removable yellow lid and a twisty-tie inside the bottle (presumably for use if you wanted to hang the bottle and use it without the holder). Finally, I have to commend the seller on their prompt shipping and excellent packaging – the bottle and holder arrived double-wrapped in bubble wrap and inside a thick plastic bag with a sliding zipper. I was nervous about purchasing a product with no reviews, but I couldn’t be happier with it and I hope more people discover this little gem!
I bought this for our new dwarf hamster. What I like about it is that it is compact. I had a hanging water bottle and held it up with a coat hanger. But then my hamster tried to climb up the water bottle. I also like that the hamster can hide under the bottle and you can still see it. Also because it is in the holder it is not flimsy, and dripping all over the cage. My hamster was also easily able to reach the water in it. I saw a video that says hamsters like to poop in all of the corners of the cage, and I put this in a corner, and so far it is not pooping in it. Hopefully it is pooping in its little potty. Anyways great buy- worth the money. Highly recommended if you want the ease of changing your water bottle without having to worry about an oversized leaking moving around water bottle.
I love this bottle! I have an aquarium for my Winter white because I don’t want her to escape. This does not allow for hanging bottles. This one was perfect. The yellow part is ceramic which makes it heavier :).NOTE:*I didnt know I had to shake the bottle for the water to flow. Remember to shake it till it sprinkles you!*i had to put the bottle on a base (in my case, a small iglu for my hammy) because since the bottle is low on the ground, the bedding material absorbs the water from the tip of the bottle, and there were some wet spots because of this. Once I put the bottle on the iglu, problem solved. My hammy loves the hideout as well :)WOULD RECCOMEND
We bought this because we decided to get a large glass tank for our robo hamsters and needed a stand alone water bottle. They love it. They have made a little nest underneath it and we hardly ever see them running around now. It is sturdy and doesn’t tip over and the perfect height for little hamsters.
I bought this for my dwarf hamsters. First of all, the stand is AWESOME! It’s a glazed ceramic and very well made. On the down side, the bottle is super cheap and doesn’t hold very much water at all. The nozzle rusted almost immediately which made me upset and the top f the bottle just pops right off. We ended up buying a different water bottle but kept the base in the cage as a hide and toy. They climb up into it and sit like it’s a tree house. Pretty funny. I keep the bottle it came with purely as an emergency replacement.
We have an old cage that none of the newer water bottles fit in. This is working out perfect. Moxie our dwarf hamster loves it and it does not take up much room in the cage!
This is so adorable. Love the color. My winter white loves to hide in this. I did read the review about the bottle being made cheaply…I do agree with that. However, for me it doesn’t leak at all. Before this bottle I had bought a 16oz bottle from Petco and it leaked really bad. The morning after I had put the bottle in the cage, I had to change all of my poor hammie’s bedding because all of it was soaked. This bottle has solved that problem for me. I really do love this and it made a nice addition to my hammie’s cage.
My hamster lives in a plastic tote, and it is hard to put a water bottle in there. This allows her to drink and nest in the holder.
