My 61lb beagle/sharpei mix is 20″ at the neck and 30″ at the deepest part of his chest. The medium works fine. The large is longer with the velcro strap hitting him at his narrowest (waist-25″) leaving some strap dangling but still a secure fit. Fine product and even though it doesn’t look like it has a lot of reflective material, it blazes like a neon sign when car lights strike it.

I ordered two of these medium orange jackets for my two dogs, a 45 lb cur and a 25 lb heeler mix. The jacket fits the cur perfectly. The velcro at the neck is matched up on either side so could be adjusted 2 or 3 inches bigger or smaller. The strap around his chest has about 2 inches extra past the velcro so it couldn’t be make much smaller or there wouldn’t be enough velcro to hold firmly. That was the problem with the heeler’s vest. I’m going to have to add some extra velcro to her’s to make sure it stays on. I added a photo of the cur in the vest so people could see how it fits him.**Update 2/9/13 – The vests turned out to be very fragile. The strap around the middle is attached with basting stitches and was ripped off after a few uses. Any branch or bramble that caught on the vest tore the thread and the whole thread would just unravel. Basically a waste of money if you’re not going to have your dog on a lead.
This vest is great. Not only does it hold my patches but it also helps on our runnin days to make sure people see us:). The color is hunter orange and very noticeable.
This vest fits my 45-50 pound flat coat retriever perfectly, it’s a hair big for my skinnier, 45 pound mutt, but it fits okay. These go on really easily and stay on well without sliding around too much. We got them mostly for hunting season out in the woods, but they’re really reflective (even with indoor lighting) and I can tell they’ll be great for evening walks when it’s getting dark out. These are a great deal for the price, they seem like they’re good quality and I think they’ll last a while, and for 10 bucks each they’re hard to beat. The dogs rolled in some sort of poop so we just washed the vests on gentle cycle in the washing machine and they came through it just fine. I wouldn’t try drying them in the dryer though.
I bought 2 of these (one Large and one Medium) for a week camping in the woods (my own property). It was posted no hunting but I felt better with the extra precaution. Both dogs are fairly active (one 90 lbs the other 60 lbs). The vests fit fine (I measured before buying them). They stayed on them the entire week and stayed put for the most part. The reflective material worked very well after dusk which because it was late November in the mountains was before 6 pm. The only real issue I had is that one of them (the medium one) the reflective trim around the back edge came undone about the 4th day, just a little at first but once it started it came undone at a faster rate so that by the end of the week the trim was undone and separated most of the length of one side. But for under $20 for a week of extra protection it wasn’t too bad just don’t buy one with the thought of using it for a whole season or longer unless your dog isn’t active (and then you probably wouldn’t need it anyway).
I have a 6 pack of death row dogs from Toy to Giant.Ordered 2 small and 1 medium. Should have ordered 2 medium and 1 large. I use a harness and there is no opening on the top of vest for the leash to hook to the harness [button hole opening will do]. Size small front clouser is TOO short to stay connected and I have to pin it on my Rat Terrier. Belly strap is long enough for his small torso. The medium would fit him fine. It fits my 40 lb Perro Sin Pelo del Peru; but she has no hair to get in the way. They are very lean from a year of 2-4 mile run/walk/run training; wish I was lean!Outstanding reflective quality; visible for blocks and easy to put on the dog. Consider the dogs neck size, amount of hair the closure goes around, and understand that the front is very short and may have to be pinned to stay connected. Yes I will buy another one.
This vest is is very useful. The reflective quality is excellent, and it is very light weight. The medium fits my 45lb whippets nicely, but it would be adjustable enough for a somewhat smaller or larger dog. THe ordering info did not help me know what size to order, so I guessed. Since the medium fits, I am ordering a second one for the second whippet. Well designed and very functional.
I am very pleased with this product. The material itself is nice and soft, and my dog doesn’t seem to mind having it on at all. I am very glad I went to the manufacturer’s website to check sizing since in many items she requires a Large, but for this item a Medium is just fine. The chest strap is actually longer than it needs to be, so there is a bit of extra strap sticking out, but there is enough velcro on both pieces of the strap that it still holds together quite nicely. She is some sort of shepherd mix and weighs 50 pounds. Her measurements where the vest hits her: 19″ around neck/shoulder and 28.5″ chest (in front of rib cage). The color is a perfect hunting/construction worker orange, and the reflective details stand out quite nicely. Now we can go geocaching in the woods without her being mistaken for a deer!
